‘Unknowns’ make recovery in aviation sector problematic
Though Vietnam’s aviation sector has recovered significantly over the past two years, after record losses during the pandemic, it is still to meet expectations. Airlines are also shouldering higher costs due to fluctuations in fuel prices and exchange rates. In addition to an unfavorable business context, many airlines believe that infrastructure overload is still an issue, especially at Vietnam’s two gateway airports in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) will continue to proactively coordinate with management agencies this year to address difficulties and obstacles in capital construction investment, and at the same time proactively coordinate with airlines to reopen or open new commercial routes, boosting recovery in the international market. ACV will also develop a pricing policy to encourage airlines to restore operations and open new routes.
