Social responsibility and sustainable development activities have become mandatory under a series of new policies issued or set to be issued by the governments of Vietnam’s major footwear importing markets, such as the US and the EU. This presents a challenge for local footwear enterprises and requires that exporters make every effort to prepare and comply with laws and policies to participate in sustainable supply chains. Enterprises must upgrade their own internal capabilities from technology and management. Enhancing and improving production and business models is also a pressing matter. Enterprises would also benefit from establishing a specific department to update information and meet customer requirements.
