Wood industry ‘confident’ in targeted $16 billion in export turnover
The export of wood and wooden products posted strong breakthroughs in the opening month of 2024, reaching $1.49 billion, up 72.5 per cent against January 2023. Notably, in the EU in January, one “bright spot” emerged. Vietnam’s export of wood and wooden products to the Netherlands nearly doubled over the same period of 2023. Experts said that a lack of imported fuel from Russia meant the Netherlands needed to increase the importation of wood pellets from many countries, including Vietnam. The Netherlands is currently one of Vietnam’s major wood import markets in the EU. With these results, along with bright prospects in the US and elsewhere in Europe, Vietnam’s wood industry is confidently aiming for $16 billion in export turnover this year.
