The Railway Law 2017 has been implemented for five years and created significant change in many aspects of railway activities, but implementation has identified many issues in need of resolution. New mechanisms have been proposed in amending the law, to help promote the superior characteristics of railways in transport capacity and economic efficiency, so that the sector continues to play a pivotal role in the national transport network. One mechanism allows for budget support of up to 80 per cent of public-private partnership (PPP) projects, reserving land around stations for urban development or railway electrification.
