Traders and businesses have been scrambling to buy and stockpile rice in recent months, pushing up domestic prices and causing the country’s rice industry to lose export opportunities. This poses great risks and consequences, affecting the quality, reputation, and brand of Vietnamese agricultural products in export markets. Links between businesses and cooperatives to build raw material areas are still loose and of poor quality. The key solution in ensuring smooth purchases and exports is for businesses to establish more alliances with rice production cooperatives.
