Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans, and Fisheries at the European Commission (EC) said it is stricter with Vietnam than other countries in removing the “yellow card” on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing because it hopes that Vietnam will develop a sustainable seafood industry as a model for the world to follow. Vietnam is one of the EU’s key partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said the country has recorded many outstanding results in the industry and affirmed its political determination to address the EU’s recommendations on ending IUU fishing towards sustainable fisheries development.
