Public debt space available to help build fiscal policy space
Vietnam must face a range of external risks and challenges, including problems beyond forecasting that have negatively impacted and severely affected its economy. In that context, public debt management and aid capital management have basically achieved the goals and plans set at the beginning of the year, contributing to overall performance in the financial industry. Many bright spots in public debt management were recorded in 2023, with public debt safety indicators strictly controlled and remaining far from the ceiling, contributing to building fiscal policy space. Vietnam is also one of only a few countries whose credit rating was upgraded last year.
