                                                              2023 was a difficult year for Vietnam, with a number of
                                                              economic indicators falling short of levels posted in 2022.
                                                              While certain macro indicators were in good shape, such
                                                              as inflation, major balances, monetary and foreign
                                                              exchange markets, and interest rates, growth fell short of
                                                              targets while trade slipped amid the ongoing global turmoil.
                                                              The uncertainties will continue into 2024, and while the
                                                              government has shown itself capable of steadying the
                                                              ship, there are many factors outside of its control that will
                                                              have an influence on Vietnam’s economic performance
                                                              over the next 12 months.
