CELEBRATING THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF DIEN BIEN PHU VICTORY             SPECIAL REPORT

        Lecornu’s presence in Vietnam to attend celebrations
        of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory
        at Vietnam’s invitation reflected that spirit.
           A grand ceremony and parade was held
        in Dien Bien Phu city, the capital of Dien
        Bien province in Vietnam’s northwestern
        reaches, on the morning of May 7 to mark
        the 70th anniversary (May 7, 1954 - 2024),
        attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh
        Chinh and other leaders and former leaders
        of the country as well as international guests,
        including Lao Deputy Prime Minister and
        Minister of National Defense Chansamone
        Chanyalath, Cambodian Deputy Prime Min-

                                                                               spirit of “being determined to fight and
                                                                               to win” witnessed in the Dien Bien Phu
                                                                               Campaign, surmount any and all diffi-
                                                                               culties and challenges, and exert every
                                                                               effort to create new “Dien Bien Phu mir-
                                                                               acles” in the building and safeguarding
